I can't stand wizard necks either. I've been mulling over either a horizon NT-7 or a Carvin (Probably do a DC 747), but I think this is my way of finally pulling the trigger on Carvin. I'm pretty sure I'll have to reroute the pickup cavities either way, but cutting out on the Carvin looks easier, if they won't do it as part of the order. What's the DC 727 neck profile like?

I can try to make measurements if you want, I found it pretty similar to Schecker 7-strings except for the fretboard which is flatter on Carvin.

The flatter, the better for me, which is the one thing I like about wizard necks, they are just so thin that it cramps my hand. Now that I think about it, I think i remember being able to set a radius for the fingerboard as part of the order, but the thickness of the neck I'm trying to get a handle on. Usually I'd just say fuck it and buy it. I can just sell it if I don't like it, but Carvins, as with most custom build instruments, aren't worth a fraction of the price paid new, when selling to over people.

Very Nice collection.

You should do a review of Navigator vs. Gibson. I'm sure a lot of folk would like to read about that.

Well it's not fair comparison between high-end navigator and mass production LP standard :-D
I'd need to compare with a Gibson Historic 58 I think.

In a nutshell :
- flawless construction bindings, inlays, etc...
- great sound projection, full of harmonics when plugged
- Heavy !!!!

Very nice pics!

Did you take the pics yourself? If so, what camera did you use?

yes my pics, I don't think the camera is very important, what does matter is the lightning and background.
I used 1m wide white paper and tried to minimise shadows, then shot with surexposure.

But I have a Canon 7D :-D

You don't think the camera is very important buy you have a $1800 camera (not including lens). Okay :P

Can I ask which lens?

I meant for THIS kind of pictures, any camera which allow manual exposure would do the trick :-D
Lens used was EF-S 17-55 2.8 IS USM

Cool. I'm thinking of getting a 550D with the same lens :)
