ESP SV-NT BMF STP arrives - another win team!

Postby guitarsatbmusic » Fri Nov 13, 2009 1:26 pm

Well, she's stinking hot out there, so not too many pics, and the colour's a little washed out as the sun was burning right through everything :-D But she's JUST as I wanted, right colour purple (draker than most of these shots illustrate) and the matching burst on the back is just the right cherry on top 8-)
All in all, smashing victory chaps. Hermz mockups always seem to end up looking like the guitar pretty much exactly, has he a time machine?........
Without further ado:

For those not fishing back through the thread or unfamiliar with the development of this model, here's the Hermz mockup

Wow I was a bit questionable on the purple when Hermz did the mockup but ESP have pulled it off and it looks wonderful.
you can call me Phil if you want to

and the knot in the back adds caractor...i even have a proper Shamalama Ding Dong custom here with 4 knots on the front that will also blow any other custom guitar away for the purpose its been made for..

Pearly gates. Is that another term for "cream pie"?

Well, it's a pickup combination of two distinct halves, for sure. Back for dirty, up front for clean. Just like I like 'em.
The Pearly Gates I've long been a fan of, but to use it in this configuration was a first for me, and it's worked awesome (unless you like the neck pickup for dirty, if you do, pfft, there's no helping you :P ). It's a big, fat juicy sound with definition everywhere This will sound odd, but it's like two nice, full single coils. Yes, I know the principle behind a humbucker. What I'm trying to get at is, you know when you split a humbucker, it's single coil but it doesn't quite get there, there's that difference between a single coil and a humbucker tapped that is never quite bridged, close, but something isn't quite there. The Pearly Gates in this sounds like two full sounding singles in the neck strapped together, that's the impression it gives. Like it's not a humbucking neck sound, but it's not a single coil on it's own, it's like the pickup's theory is MEANT to be I guess. Two juicy single coils, and the lack of noise the humbucker delivers. Great choice, mucho pleased.
The Custom Custom shreds, and the bass definition is amazing considering what the pickup does at the top end. It's a very precise, gutsy bass and a top end and mids to cut through anything.
I'm very, very happy with both pickup choices. I've not heard an alder body, particularly in this non-traditional type of shape, have so much variation, guts and bite to it all at the same time.

(Shit - I forgot to test them together in the middle position! After reading how they sounded to me that might have been an idea  Tomorrow perhaps)

So there ya go. Oh, and the guitar played incredibly well of course.

amazing guitar shano! the blank fretboard looks ridiculously nice in contrast to the rest! I'm so down with this if I were more into pointy fiddles... :smt011
